My teaching philosophy is centered on the mental aspects of chess. My goal for my students is for them to improve their intuitions while learning how to rely less on pure calculation.

I primarily work with adults who are either new to chess or have been playing a while and gotten to an ‘intermediate’ level. Most of my students are in the 1200-1600 range on chess.com, with my ‘advanced’ students being in the 1600-2000 range.

For lessons, I focus on going over student analysis of their own games and solving positional, tactical, and endgame puzzles together. We focus on identifying patterns in reasoning that lead to mistakes, and supplement these lessons with homework. Sometimes these are exercise sets, but oftentimes they are book chapters or videos.
